Discover Tempranillo wines!

Tempranillo wines come from a special region of Spain: the Rioja and Ribera del Duero wine regions. This is where the grapes that are the basis of the drink are grown. Native to the Iberian Peninsula, it is the variety that produces the noblest red wines. Tempranillo is also known as Rioja wine, because of where it is grown.

Gran Baroja Reserva 2011 from Heredad de Baroja Winery in the Basque Country is an exclusive example – perfect as a gift. It has all the characteristics of a Tempranillo wine: medium-bodied, dark cherry-coloured, with an alcohol content of 13.5%.

It is also aged in oak barrels for over a year – hence the spicy flavours, with a blend of wild fruit, chocolate, vanilla and pepper. It is dominated by liquorice and cherry.

Also unique is the Rioja Limitada Tempranillo Crianza Lar de Paula 2016, a dry red wine made from 100% Tempranillo grapes – also from the winery of Fernando Meruelo and his family in the Basque Country.

The Castillo Labastida Crianza 2018 is already a product of the Viñedos Labastida Winery, but it is also a Tempranillo variety. It is of excellent quality, with fruity notes.
