Vina Cecilia Blanco DOP “Cili”

The wine is produced in the eastern part of Valencia, Spain. This is the hottest area of the country, with summer temperatures reaching up to 40°C.

This Moscato wine, made from high quality muscatel grapes, has become world famous by the hands of Spanish winemaker Fernando Tarin. Inspired by the Spanish Mediterranean atmosphere and the heat of summer, this is a masterpiece.

Fernando has deep roots in the wine world as a member of a 3rd generation family of winemakers. Indeed, wine has played such a central role in the family’s life that it was used to dip his christening soother. He has continued this tradition with his two children and godchildren.

One of the world’s leading wine experts, British wine writer Oz Clarke, says that muscatel grapes are treated with contempt by most wine drinkers, but they shouldn’t be. In his view, more should be made of this grape variety, which is as old as wine itself and so versatile that it can be used to make sweet or dry wines, sparkling wines, semi-sparkling or sparkling wines.

Naturally low in alcohol, Vina Cecilia Moscato Bianco is a pale straw yellow Frizzante (Italian for sparkling wine) with a greenish sheen, so fresh, sweet and crisp that it feels as if you are actually eating a grape just plucked from the cluster. From the nose you can detect the characteristic nutmeg mingling with grapes and oranges. The palate is beautifully balanced, with aromas of apple, pear and citrus mixed with mint and a touch of honey, while the mouth is filled with a tiny, very well-drained bubble.

The perfect addition to any party, family or friends gathering, either as a welcome drink or as an aperitif before a light dinner. Serve with lightly spiced grilled meats, vegetarian dishes, leaner fish and seafood. It is also an excellent dessert wine to finish off a meal with a colourful fruit salad, or on its own as a special dessert. It also pairs well with soft cheeses and Spanish tapas. A great choice any time of year!
