Region: the Langhe hills, in the province of Piedmont (meaning foot of the mountain), in northern Italy
One of the most prominent Piedmontese wineries is Ceretto Winery. They harvest from 160 hectares of vineyards and produce around 1 million bottles a year.
Despite the size of the area, it has been in the hands of the Ceretto family since 1930. The two brothers, Bruno and Marcello, wanted to plant vineyards in areas that were historically the most valuable and where the soil, subsoil and local climate were highly uniform. This idea was born during a trip to Burgundy. They found it hard to convince their father, who believed that the land had never made anyone rich. The brothers stubbornly believed in the potential of the Piedmontese land and said: ‘Great wines are made from great vines’. So they began to dream of a label bearing the name of the vineyard and its image, with the aim of making sure that whoever drank the wine would see the land from which it came. However, the label of this wine has since been changed to a more sophisticated look, with a simplicity and elegance that is, no doubt, perfectly suited to this very exciting wine.
Currently, the winery is run by the four Ceretto brothers, who own wineries in four regions. One of these is Monsordo Bernardina, in the town of Alba, where they also produce the labels and store their wines from the four regions.
The organic label is given to this wine because only natural, environmentally friendly technologies are used in the production area to produce healthy, chemical-free and nutrient-rich grapes. The aforementioned 160 hectares of vines have been converted to organic farming since 2010. It is a revolutionary choice that has radically changed the way vineyards are managed, with the aim of greater respect for the soil, the vine and humanity. In 2015, they received the certification and in 2016, the first organic wines were bottled.
The word arneis means little pride. It is named after the slightly stunted growth characteristic of this grape variety.
Blangé represents the white wines of Piedmont. A product that has defined an era, revolutionising Langhe winemaking, which had previously been dedicated exclusively to red grapes. It combines sustainability in the grape with a modern approach. This dry and full-flavoured white wine has fruity and floral notes, such as pear and apricot, as well as minerals, which make this drink enjoyable and versatile, with a balanced freshness.
