If you want to drink quality dry white wine, there is a wide range of options. The beautiful colour, the pleasant flavours and aromas can be felt from the moment you lift the glass to your mouth. Let’s look at the factors that characterise premium dry white wines!

About white wines in general

These wines are named after the white grapes from which they are made. They can also be further grouped according to their place of origin or grape variety. Thus we can offer you –

without being exhaustive, the great sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, riesling, pinot grigio and pinot bianco are also quality dry white wines.

Riesling from the Rhineland in Germany is one of the most widely produced white wines in the world. The grape from which it is made has a centuries-old history. Interestingly, it can be used not only as a dry wine but also as a sweet wine, depending on how ripe the grapes were at the time of harvest. The German wine law classifies wines according to this. The resulting wine is rich in flavours and aromas, slightly acidic with a pleasant mineral finish.

The home of chardonnay is France, and Burgundy in particular. The variety is extremely versatile and adaptable, allowing vines that are geographically distant from each other to produce a wine with very different characteristics. Once extremely popular, it has become commonplace and boring. However, excellences such as the world-famous Chablis are also made from Chardonnay, so it is definitely a wine that has a place on the list of quality dry white wines.

What we know as a grey friend is known in the world at large as pinot gris. One way of making it is the pinot grigio, which is common in Italy and produces a light-coloured, light, acidic white wine.

There are many more varieties that we cannot talk about here for reasons of space, but let this be a glimpse of the diversity of the world of white wines.

The wonderful sauvignon blanc

However, we cannot talk about quality dry white wines without mentioning sauvignon blanc, of which Marfi-Sauvignon Blanc Verdeca Puglia is a great example. This is a speciality of the Varvaglione Winery, made from grapes grown in the Puglia region.

The Varvaglione Winery has been in the wine business for four generations, and the family business has grown steadily, becoming world famous. They combine tradition and experience with modern cellar techniques and a commitment to wine – the basis of their great wines.

Puglia is the heel of the Italian boot, a province in Italy famous for its viticulture. The climate and soil conditions are ideal for different grape varieties, including sauvignon blanc.

Marfi-Sauvignon Blanc is named after the first-born daughter of Cosimo and Maria Teresa, Marzia Maria Filomena. The wine is characterised by its straw yellow colour, enlivened by greenish hues. The balanced taste is in perfect harmony with the excellent acidity. It is an excellent example of sauvignon blanc, which is recommended as an aperitif, with seafood or fresh cheese.

Drinking quality dry white wines

Quality dry white wines are served in the tall, slender wine glasses to match. The drinking temperature is usually between 10 and 12 degrees Celsius, as this is the temperature at which the wine can express its excellent aromas.
