The diversity of the wine world cannot be overstated, and in this diverse world, premium rosé wine has a unique place. Its delicate, fruity character, soft elegance and refreshing acidity is what makes it so popular. It’s a particular favourite during the warm summer months, and a pleasant warm evening on the beach is almost unthinkable without it.
How is a premium rosé wine made?
The premium wines meet the expectations of the most demanding wine lovers. Their high quality makes them stand out from the almost endless range of wines on the market in general. This quality is the result of the special attention and care that is given to each batch, from the growing of the grapes to bottling and beyond.
Here at Borsuttogo you will find only rosé wines that are elegant in appearance and surpass all expectations in quality. We carefully select our selection, quality is our priority, not quantity. That’s why we have not created a range of products that the discerning wine lover cannot peruse.
The premium rosé wine is made from blue grapes that are only soaked for a very short time before pressing. This prevents the skins from leaching out the flavours and colours to such an extent. This process produces rosé wines with a lighter, pinkish hue, while soaking the grapes for 1-2 days longer produces a schiller. This type of wine lies between rosé and red wines in terms of colour, flavour and aromas.
A rosé with a difference: the Idea Rosa di Primitivo
One of the jewels in our range is Idea Rosa di Primitivo, a premium rosé from the Varvaglione winery in Italy.
The Varvaglione Winery is a family business with a long history, making great wines since 1921, over a hundred years ago. They combine tradition with years of experience and the most modern techniques to produce wonderful wines such as the Idea Rosa.
Home to the primitives, Puglia, the “heel of the boot”, is where the distinctive yet diverse wines that go by that name are born. It has a long tradition of wine-growing, to the extent that it is home to the largest area of vineyards in Italy.
Idea Rosa di Primitivo is a premium rosé wine with a pinkish hue. When held up to the sun, its beautiful, sumptuous colour is most visible, best described as cherry pink. Its fruity flavours are also dominated by cherries, with strawberries, blackberries and raspberries alongside, accented by spicy, earthy notes. The nose is dominated by chocolate and marmalade motifs. All this results in a lingering, pleasant finish, leaving a lighter, slightly dry, slightly astringent aftertaste.
It fits perfectly into the gastronomy of Puglia. It goes well with fish dishes and seafood, but also with fresh, soft and medium-hard cheeses. It goes particularly well with cured meats and salamis, but surprisingly it also pairs well with pizza and hamburgers.
